Blurb:

Timing is everything…

Getting cursed out in the middle of the airport isn’t exactly how I pictured meeting the man of my dreams. Then again, fate doesn’t seem to care much about my plans.

Thanks to my failing health, I now have a lifetime of things to do, and a limited amount of time to do them.

Rhys helps me live a little… and one by one we check off my list. From nude beaches to snorkeling to wedding crashing, I find myself falling for the outspoken stranger hard and fast.

He wasn’t on the list…

But can the uncocky hero save me before it’s too late?

My Review:

Uncocky Hero by Alex Grayson is part of the Cocky Hero Club series. This is an angsty hate to love romance about Rhys and Cleo, which will take you through the whole repertoire of emotions. It was heart breaking at times and heart warming at others, all revolving round a couple who will captivate your heart. This story is inspired by Playboy Pilot by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. If you have read that book then you will love this as Carter has been friends with Rhys since college and Kendall is Cleo’s best friend. It was great catching up with them and hearing how Brucey is doing.

“It’s the beginning of the end to our story.”

Cleo is an airline stewardess and on her last few flights before leaving the airline she works for. Their first meeting in the airport is a disaster and their second doesn’t go much better when they find themselves on the same flight to Hawaii. Rhys is going on vacation to get away from family problems. Luckily for them Carter is the captain and Kendall is along for a break with her husband.

The instant connection to Cleo affects his nerves and he can’t speak to her. He struggles with the overwhelming emotions he feels as she is really getting to him. Cleo feels the weird connection between them and is surprised at how much he affects her. They both feel a magnetic pull whenever their eyes meet which intrigues them but also scares them as neither in a position to start a new relationship.

We follow Rhys as he tries to get Cleo to let him apologise and explain his behaviour. After a rocky start they develop a friendship. She enjoys spending time with him and he is very funny so keeps her entertained. Rhys positive fate has brought them together but they both have issues they need to address. I loved all their adventures and how thoughtful and sweet Rhys is with Cleo. Enjoy lots of innocent flirting and then watch their feelings start to come into play. Their slow burn romance is to die for.

Their families play an important role in the story as some of their problems have an impact on our couple. However, the support this couple get from their families and friends certainly helped when all the secrets are revealed. Rhys has two sisters and I absolutely loved the younger one Peyton. She was hilarious with great banter and really brought the fun to this story.

Rhys is adorable and his love for her was unwavering. Cleo was strong and showed what mind over matter can achieve. There are lots of twists, some will surprise you and others will break your heart. Alex Grayson has a real knack for writing this type of story. This book pours with emotion just like my tears did as I read it. The story will grip your heart and keep squeezing it until the very end. The epilogue was fantastic and so perfect that the tissues came out again. I totally recommend this touching read.
