Blurb:

All I wanted is for my little sister Della to be safe and happy. And maybe, in brief stolen moments, I dreamed of a happy ending for myself with a brown-eyed man. That hope has turned into sharp, bright fear. There’s only survival now.

I’m the daughter of a controlling and cruel billionaire, so I understand about power. But I find myself fighting anyway. I find myself testing them.

I have claws and I bite. I’m not going down without a fight.

It’s like I have a death wish.

My Review:

Death Wish by K. Webster is the conclusion to the Deception Duet. This follows straight on from Triple Threat and ends the story of the Mannford Triplets and the woman all three want. How K. Webster manages to make these three into heroes is amazing and you are just going to have to read this duet to believe it. After their evil behaviour in the Cinderella series it was fun seeing them redeem themselves but still cause chaos and mayhem at the same time.

Landry believed Ford Mann was one person until she turned up at what she thought was Ty Constantine’s apartment and meet the triplets. She finds it weird seeing all three together. She is horrified when it seems Scout has kidnapped her because she had cared about him. She knew she had craved his attention and his promise of safety but she can’t risk Della’s safety with a crazy man. She feels tricked because they flirted and all three were intimate with her. She is once again trapped by a monster but this time there are three to deal with.

She wonders if anything she felt with the boys was real and did it mean anything to them. She knows they gave her a false sense of security and the courage to escape her father but feels she must outsmart them and plot another escape. The problems arise when she sees how good Sully is with Della and all three start showing how much they really do care about her. She has always battled her memories of the ordeals and has nightmares so knows her father will turn the city upside down to find them.

Sparrow and Sully were better behaved in the first book but Scout was still the psychopath we know him to be. Scout sees her as their prize and refuses to let her go. When they hear what the two girls have endured at the hands of their father, there is no way any of them are giving her up. They are all obsessed with her so have a family meeting to see if they can work out how all of them can have her. Each of them want and care for her so will they be willing to share her?

The author really turns up the heat in this instalment and the triplets really show what they can do when they work together. Their antics are very steamy and it is no wonder Landry falls for their charms. Be prepared for some very naughty scenes involving all four of them. We definitely get to see another side to the triplets, even Scout shows a softer side with his interactions with Della. Can this trio save her when everyone and everything seems against them. What will happen when the secrets and betrayals are revealed. Can Landry find the strength to stand up for what she wants and protect Della?

I felt sad for Ty Constantine because he got caught up in everything and nothing was his fault. He is so concerned about Landry and genuinely wanted to help her escape her father. I thought it was nice that actually they all ended up getting on and the Morelli-Constantine feud didn’t affect their friendship.  I was over the moon to see my favourite Morelli appear to help the triplets especially as Leo really understood what Landry had been through and could sympathise with her.

This author excels in writing about characters you either love or hate and then mixing things up to make you question everything. I will admit to really disliking Scout when we first met him but somehow in this duet he was the one who proved what Landry meant to them and was willing to sacrifice everything for her. Deception Duet was a great read and is another excellent addition to the Midnight Dynasty collection.
