Blurb:

My 5* Review:

Sanctum is book two in Jane Henry’s Wicked Vows series. This is a dark mafia arranged marriage romance between Aleksandr “Aleks’ Romanov and Harper Bianchi. An enemies to lovers tale and a compelling tale of redemption and revenge, full of intrigue and suspense.

The six Romanov brothers run their Bratva out of The Cove and are looking for an alliance to fortify their defences after recent attacks against them. Aleks knows it is up to him to prove his loyalty to the family and resigns himself to a loveless marriage.

Harper is fed up of being used and abused by her family. They think she is worthless and her brother Saul, has come to a deal with the Romanov’s. She has secrets but somehow has found the strength to carry on. She is terrified about what her new life will be like as she knows the mafia rules on marriage. She has a reputation for running so Aleks is well prepared and actually enjoys the chase as his dominant side emerges.

The electricity between them almost crackles off the pages and they have an undeniable connection. Their sarcastic and witty banter is so entertaining especially when she taunts him. Aleks realises she’s not a typical Italian mafia princess and can’t believe he actually likes her. He is happy she’s not meek and fights back but is determined to make her submit to him. I loved how he becomes so possessive and protective the moment the deal is agreed. He knows it is dangerous to develop feelings for her but he struggles to resist.

How her family treated her was awful and my heart went out to Harper for the trauma and neglect she’d suffered. She is confused over her feelings for him as he isn’t what she expected but after years of being told what to do she isn’t happy he’s a control freak. It was sad she felt she didn’t deserve his support and understanding. I was pleased she quickly developed a strong bond with Aria and his sister Polina, they were very supportive and helpful. I laughed at how she makes him apologise for his mistakes and how she brings out his caring and kind side.

Can they forge a truce and make the marriage work. What will he do when he finds out she is hiding things from him. Can the family keep everyone safe and find out who is out to get them.

This couple will pull at your heartstrings and their story was captivating. Who wouldn’t want a man like Aleks to fight for you, support and do anything in his power to keep you safe !! If you thought the first book was good, then you will love this one. I wonder which Romanov sibling we will get next?
