Blurb:

A successful writer accidentally sends her new (and super-dreamy) editor the wrong manuscript. Instead of the full-length paranormal novel she promised Longstrand Publishing, she sends the fan fiction she’s written about her crush…on him—including every detail of the hot, steamy “physical activity” she’s fantasized about happening between them.

And Chase Dawson may be the hottest man alive and a super-talented editor to boot, but he’s completely oblivious that he’s the star of the manuscript he just convinced his boss to green-light.

Brooke Baker has been through a lot in her thirty-one years of life.

A divorce.

A career change.

A move to New York City from “small-town” Ohio.

Not to mention, she has a bit of a medical condition that involves occasional fainting spells, mild embarrassment, and the companionship of her adorable service dog and canine sidekick, Benji.

But none of it has prepared her for this.

None of it prepared her for Chase Dawson.

Strong jaw, blue eyes, cut muscles, and a perfect swoop of superhero-worthy black hair, Chase’s features are those of a book boyfriend and then some. Obviously, Brooke would know—she literally filled an entire manuscript with it.

A manuscript no one was ever supposed to see.

Will she survive two months of revising and editing the sizzling romance she imagined with Chase in extremely close quarters with him? Or will the constant white lies and overwhelming attraction make her spontaneously combust?

My 4* Review:

Accidental Attachment by Max Monroe. This is the first time I have read this writing duo and I enjoyed the story about the author Brooke Baker and her crush on her super-dreamy editor Chase Dawson. It is a slow burn romantic comedy that will keep you entertained throughout the book with the hilarious antics and events. There is also the added advantage of getting two stories in one as we get to read some of Brooke’s book.

Brooke is a very successful novelist who has hit writer’s block and lost her confidence, even though her first series is about to be on Netflix. She feels her latest book is awful so for a distraction has been writing a contemporary romance, which isn’t her usual fantasy genre. Accidental Attachment is a secret manuscript about her fantasies and vivid dreams over her handsome new editor Chase so is for her eyes only. Brooke is a very quirky character and also suffers from  a medical condition which means she can pass out so she has an adorable service dog and canine sidekick, Benji. She loves to dress him up in superhero costumes and he is great at rolling his eyes at her.

Chase arrived in New York seven months ago to work as an editor for Longstrand Publishing. His life has changed a lot over the last few years so the move is a fresh start. He knows he has to prove his worth and Brooke’s new book is his first solo project. He is a fan of her work but his sister is a super-fan so their interactions are very amusing.

The deadline for submitting her book to Chase arrives so she reluctantly sends it to him, however, she sends the wrong manuscript. This starts a series of events because he absolutely  loves the book, although he has no idea he is the protagonist and the inspiration for the change in direction of her writing. He must now champion it to the president of the company who is expecting Garden of Forever , a spin off from her blockbuster series The Shadow Brothers. He could gain or lose everything over it so is he willing to bet his job and career on it?

I loved the snippets from the naughty book and how the characters in it were having a work-place / forbidden relationship and how it all spilt over into real life for Brooke and Chase. I laughed at all the times she passes out and Benji was a star. Chase is adorable and there is little angst so you can just enjoy their relationship developing. The mutual attraction is sweet and the road trip just shows how perfect they are together. It is a long book but enough happens along the way, but what will happen once the secret revealed?
