Blurb:

What would you do with a Scrooge?

Professional holiday decorator Natalie Fiorre loves tinsel, gingerbread, and the magic of Christmas. She believes there isn’t anything in the world that a dash of Christmas Spirit can’t fix—until she meets Gabe.

Perpetual Scrooge Gabe Cavanaugh loathes candy canes, jingle bells, and all things merry and bright. He believes Christmas is the worst time of year.

So when Miss Christmas and Mr. Scrooge meet, sparks fly.
When Gabe threatens to evict Natalie and her neighbors on Christmas she does what any right-minded Christmas-lover would do…

Natalie has two days to stop the evictions and help Gabe discover the magic of Christmas, but a lot can go wrong in two days, and in Romeo, the soul mate capital, there’s another kind of magic in the air.

My 5* Review:

Scrooging Christmas by Sarah Ready is a fantastic rom-com based on A Christmas Carol.

This is another Soul Mates in Romeo story but can be read as a standalone. A hilarious tale that will certainly get you in the Christmas spirit as one event after another slowly changes both their lives forever.

Instead of Scrooge we have Gabe Cavanaugh. He runs the family real estate company and detests Christmas. After an incident at work, he finds himself in the trunk of a car tied up in Christmas lights. He is confused how he got there and wonders what his abductor wants with him. He is shocked when he discovers the identity of his kidnapper. Is she the Christmas angel or a devil in disguise, what ever she is, he knows she is trouble and plans to escape.

Natalie Fiorre embodies everything that is Christmas. She left Romeo six years ago and came to New York to fulfil her dreams of passing on her love of Christmas. She is now the owner of Holiday Spirit, an interior design company and decorates places ready for the holidays. She believes a little Christmas spirit can cure anything and loves everything associated with Christmas. Her first meeting with Gabe doesn’t go well and when she finds out some disturbing news, she is determined to show him the error of his ways.

Natalie didn’t mean to kidnap Gabe and take him to her family’s cabin but the opportunity arose and she couldn’t turn down the chance to make him experience the true magic of Christmas. To her she was ‘scrooging’ him. There is a strong attraction between them and the chemistry builds as Natalie makes him take part in some of her family’s holiday traditions to persuade him to change his mind. How she goes about it is questionable because she never thinks through things, so everything she ends up doing is very funny. Natalie’s family bring more Christmas cheer and I loved how Miss Erma comes good again with her soul mate advice.

Gabe fights against all her efforts to make him fall back in love with Christmas but as she works her magic he feels his resolve fading. He’s been closed off for years and she’s been like a whirlwind, turning his life around. We find out the reasons behind Gabe hating this time of year and why he’s a cold, hard hearted man. The unexpected connection between the couple is a great twist and it was lovely how something from the past holds more meaning than either would ever know. I smiled nearly all the way through this book. It might not be Christmas yet but this sweet story certainly brings all the feels and excitement of that time of the year.
