My 5* Review:

Missed Notes is book five in L.A. Cotton’s Rixon High series. This time we have Asher and Mya’s daughter Sofia Bennet and her twin brother’s best friend Cole Kandon. These two are just perfect for each other, both fighting for their future and the life they want. If ever a couple deserves a HEA it is these two.

It is not a typical teenage angst and high school drama tale but a romantic and swoon-worthy tale of first love having to survive the unexpected. It also shows the power of family and friends as they help the couple overcome their struggles.

Cole was always quiet but supportive of Sofia in the previous books but wow, he blew me away with how he handles everything. He is always there when she needs him and shows it’s the little things that really count.

This story was always going to be an emotional one because we knew Sofia had started fainting but didn’t know the reasons why. She was scared so had kept the extent of her problems from Aaron and her friends, but had confided in Cole. He was struggling to keep his promise to her over how often she was fainting. Cole has always liked Sofia but knew she was off-limits due to bro-code! However, he finally cracks one evening when she faints again and reveals the truth. He hates breaking her trust her but cares so much about her that he is prepared for her reaction.

Sofia feels he always chooses Aaron over her and his betrayal really hurts so she totally shuts him out of her life. When her life is turned upside down, she doesn’t want to be a burden to anyone. Aaron and her friends are in their senior year so she wants them to enjoy this time in their lives and not have to worry about her. Cole is not convinced that all is well and is determined to break down her walls to get to the bottom of it all, even if he has to admit his feelings towards her.

Cole is so adorable and for someone quite young he is so understanding and shows such a maturity with Sofia. You will swoon over how kind and considerate he is. He shows such strength in adversity and I loved how he always says and does exactly the right thing just when she needs it. He is so romantic and resolute, I just wanted to hug him. It turns out Sofia isn’t the only one fighting for the life she wants. We find out Cole has his own problems and is under a lot of pressure but how much is he willing to sacrifice for his girl.

Aaron cracked me up with his attitude to things especially all his comments about his relationship with Coach Ford. I was pleased he was still so in love with Poppy and she certainly has grown and learnt to put him in his place. Erza also showed how far he’d come with his obvious concern and devotion to Sofia. Ash is hilarious as usual and it was lovely getting an epilogue from him chatting with Jase and Cam to finish off the book after Sofia and Cole had their say.

As this was the last of the children I wondered if it was going to be the conclusion to the series, but luckily at the end the author announces it will finish with Forever Goals so we don’t have to say goodbye to everyone in Rixon yet.
