Blurb:

Paige is looking forward to a free vacation on a tropical island, courtesy of a new reality TV show.
Oz has an ex-military background and is playing to win.

But the other contestants aren’t going to make it easy … or pleasant. In fact, these game-players can be downright deadly.
With bizarre accidents, dodgy food, and a grumbling volcano, who’s hoping to survive, who’s going to thrive, and who’s going to fall in love?

And will anyone be going home with the prize money of $10 million? Not if the double-dealing, dastardly producers have anything to do with it.

The winner takes it all – but who wrote the rules?

My 5* Review:

Jane Harvey Berrick and Stuart Reardon have released their new romantic comedy and what a crazy and funny book it is. An amazing mix of everything you love about reality tv and everything you hate about it !! There is a great selection of characters and the main couple are adorable.

It was such an unique idea for a story but very relevant as so many reality shows on tv nowadays. Told from two contestants POV and the Producers POV we are given an insight into the pros and cons of reality tv.

The producers are unbelievable and their ideas to boost viewing figures and ratings get crazier and crazier as the show builds up to the finale. They made it so easy to dislike them and I was cheering when things didn’t go their way. But I did like how they choose interesting people as they didn’t want celebrities and what a selection they gathered together

The romance is between Oz and Paige and was totally unexpected expected. Oz had refused Brian’s idea for going on the show until it turned out he needed the prize money to keep his gym open. Paige’s sister put her forward to help her was recover from the shock of her husband cheating on her. Neither of them fancied making themselves look a fool on tv but end up being contestants. Paige is hilarious and it was lovely seeing her gain in confidence.

The mad challenges and stunts are all set on the volcanic island of Saba. Health and Safety is out the window and at times they were lucky Oz was there with his Army experience. Some of the contestants you will like, some will make you laugh and others will infuriate you immensely. I laughed at how all the contestants deal with the strange therapist interviews. How Oz tried to help everyone and slowly let his feelings show was quite emotional. Some of the match ups for the love island aspect were amusing and one couple totally shocked me with their relationship.

I liked that one of the more undesirable contestants was a link to the author’s previous series. I absolutely loved that the authors let us know what everyone was up to after the show had ended. A nice touch to bring this fun book to a close, just like a really reality show. Such an unusual idea for a book, full of banter, silly escapades and dodgy characters as they battle to win the prize money – well some do, others fall in love !!
