Blurb:

Twelve years ago, my first and only love left town and never came back.
How dare he show up now, looking like that.
And he’s running against me for mayor.
It’s unfair, him standing there, too tall and handsome for his own good. It’s audacious that his clothes accentuate every lean, strong curve of his body. It’s universal BS that his smile makes my heart flipflop, and it’s patently un-freaking-believable that my body would betray me when he turns that gorgeous smile on me.
I’ll do whatever it takes to win, and he knows it.
But when he kisses me, all bets are off.
If I win, he leaves.
If he wins, I lose.
And either way, he breaks my heart.

My 4* Review:

Run For Your Honey is book three and the final one in Staci Hart’s Blum’s Bees series. We have the last of the Blum sisters and an entertaining enemies to lovers, second chance romance about Poppy, and her first and only love, Duke Daniels.

This is short and sweet, with plenty of banter in their passionate love-hate battles. I enjoyed Poppy, especially how she stood up to Duke and faced all the challenges he threw at her. Staci has certainly written one very feisty woman.

Poppy never thought she’d end up running for mayor but she is devoted to the well being of her town and decides to stand when circumstances give her the opportunity. Her family and half the town support her but everything changes when she finds out who else is running as a mayoral candidate.

Duke grew up in Lindenbach and his parents still live there. He left to attend Harvard and is now a Capitol Hill legal consultant to senator Charlie Williams. He is confident, charismatic and ambitious, with political aspirations, so he has come back to run for Mayor.

Poppy hates Duke more than anyone else and it is twelve years since she last saw him. They dated for four years but he left her heartbroken when he left for college and never came back. How dare he go up against her !! She is furious he has swept into town because she is sure he is there to further his career and not for the good of the town. Being mayor is the next stop in his career but can he run a fair campaign without hurting her again. Poppy is caught off guard by Duke because he brings back memories of their time together. They both have so much riding on the election. He is trying to prove himself to Charlie but how far is he prepared to go to win?

Their antics to try and win over the town are entertaining and as they fight for votes, the old desire and longing ignites in both of them. We find out his side of the story as they get to know each other again. He has changed and everyone can see it. Poppy wants to shake him up so he remembers who he really is. They start down a dangerous road as they give into their feelings and it could end with him losing his dreams and career. Poppy realises it’s a no win situation for both of them so what are they going to do? He isn’t a very likeable character at first but I was really pleased when he realised that he had loved Poppy since he was fourteen and never really stopped.

It was fun catching up with the rest of the Blum family. I loved how protective Jo was of Poppy and backed her against Duke. I was so pleased Mama beat the curse and got her own HEA. Duke’s mother was worried he had left because he was searching for something so I was glad he finally found what he was looking for with Poppy. There is a shocking ending which brings everything into perspective but thankfully the author finishes this series with everyone happy and in love.
